The Cooperative Difference

last modified: August 29, 2017 at 8:11:11 AM

There are many benefits to belonging to a cooperative!

  • You are an owner of ECI REC, and you have the opportunity to voice your opinion at small-group member-consumers meetings and our Annual Meeting of the Members, held each June.
  • Cooperative Principal Two ensures that ECI REC (and other cooperatives) are democratic organizations controlled by their members, who actively participate in setting policies and making decisions. Elected representatives serve on the Board of Directors and are accountable to the membership.
  • You get money back when ECI REC's profitability exceeds its financial obligations and maintenance needs.
  • ECI REC is very active in communicating with legislators in Iowa and Washington, D.C. As climate control policies threaten to raise electric rates, we advocate for fair and balanced solutions that will keep your rates as low as possible.
